I have decided he is right to just go with the product in it's simplest form and not try to skirt around the issue at hand which needs to remain on babies in hot cars. So, here is a quick pitch to the customer, not the potential investor.

22A Elevator Pitch #3
I have decided he is right to just go with the product in it's simplest form and not try to skirt around the issue at hand which needs to remain on babies in hot cars. So, here is a quick pitch to the customer, not the potential investor.

19A Idea Napkin 2
Me: I have a
background in Marketing, Advertising, Sales, and Graphic Design, and now
Customer Service. I like to go above and beyond for a customer to give them a “wow”
experience as we call it at work where they feel really special. I hope to
bring these elements in to the project to help it succeed. I have a passion to
solve this particular problem as children who die in hot car accidents. It’s
just so tragic and it can be prevented, somehow. I’m hoping this product can
help in this way and in other ways too and solve more than one problem.
What I am offering to
customers: Is a way to feel secure in that their young child or infant is
doing fine. Imagine if the baby is at a day care all day. I the child gets sick
in the night, if he or she wanders off, or gets stuck in a car.
Who am I offering it
to: Mostly mothers of young children and father’s too. I think women tend
to worry just a little more since they have a nurturing side built in. In today’s
times, we all need to work. We are all so busy that we take on too much and get
overwhelmed with too much on our plates. This would help with that stress. It
could also be used for people with anyone they are caring for or need to keep
tabs on.
Why do they care:
It will bring to them piece of mind that their baby is well, that they aren’t
having internal problems, that they haven’t wondered off. If they are at work
and the baby is at day care, they can monitor the situation at work, or not
monitor it, and have the smart app let them know if there’s a problem. Piece of
mind is a powerful thing.
My core competencies:
A cause that no one has touched. A passion that drives me. A compassion for
unfortunate children and the parents who are devastated by the loss of their
child. If I make a product, I will quickly get it patented. I’ve found patents
before when I worked for a mezzanine company and I love to research, so I can
find new, innovative ways to approach the product.
Summary: I feel
like I have some background experiences to help to bring this together, yet I
need help technically with coding and the like. I have created web pages but
this is much different. I have a friend who does have a technical background
and who can help me in that area. I would love to hire her or have her be a
partner if she has time.
Feedback from Napkin
1: Everyone was so sweet for napkin one, very positive. We talked about
using a patch that would be a safe way to house a sensor. It would also need to
be large enough and safe enough to not be swallowed, but okay if a baby puts it
in their mouth. I want to adjust the name (providing it is available in the
real market) to call it “For Kid’s Sake”. It still hits on the key points and
rolls off the tongue better.

17A For Kid's Sake - Elevator Pitch II
My Second Elevator Pitch
I changed this elevator pitch by using my phone and without
using a script since in an elevator, meeting up unintentionally with a great
investor potential, you wouldn’t really be prepared. I did try to introduce
myself this time (that was what I had seen in my feedback) and I noticed I did
repeat myself, but I hoped that I got the point across that this could be great
for children in many ways and that it would serve other uses too like older
children, the elderly, etc. I didn’t go into too much detail about the product,
because I would want to go over that with the investor potential at the next
meeting.
In my first pitch, I wasn’t very energetic or enthusiastic
about the product. I was just reading a script. I would really liked to
have taken it outside next to a busy school or near a car for a more dynamic
setting, but, I wasn’t able to this time. I would really like to have had more editing time with it, it's pretty choppy now to get it down close to 90 seconds. :-) Perhaps next time I can do all of these things.

18A My Customer Avatar
My Customer Avatar is
a 25-35-year-old woman who recently had a baby, is married, drives a beige SUV
that will soon change to a hatchback or a van (white or silver). Her family has
an average to high income, and they live in Florida in a low-crime zone. She
has a college degree nursing between a bachelor’s to a master’s degree as well
as her husband who has a master’s degree in Engineering.
She enjoys watching TV
shows like Ellen, King of Queens, Entertainment Tonight, Fixer Upper, Beat
Bobby Flay, and Hallmark Channel. Their baby’s name is Ella and she weighed
7.25 lbs when she was born and was 19” long. Baby Ella is now 2 months old. They
plan on having 3 children. They currently live in the Gainesville area because they
obtained their degrees at the University of Florida.
What I have in common with this Avatar is my UF bachelor’s degree
(just not in nursing), I live in Florida in a low-crime area, and when I had my
baby, my husband had just finished is doctorate degree in Engineering. I like
most of the shows she watches.
I think you generally use what you know when you
look for imagination and you pull from your own memory banks of what you
witnessed this person to be.

15A Figuring Out Buying Behavior No. 2
Merlin is in her twenties and in a steady relationship and
has been for as long as I’ve known her for 3 years. She is just approaching my
segment, as she will be approaching marriage and parenthood soon. She likes to
play online games and looks for new games to buy online first before proceeding
to find them locally. If she cannot find them locally, she will just buy them
online. She said she knows if she made the right purchase if the game doesn’t
make her angry, is what it was advertised to be, and is reliable. She knows she
made a mistake if it makes her angry while playing, isn’t a format she likes to
use, or if it is other than what it was advertised to be.
My boss, Chris always researches items of all kinds online. Not
only does he find the product, he compares them, and finds the comparable item
that he needs or wants for less money. He knows he made a wise buying decision when the product works as it should holds up as it should and the cost is reasonable for him to repeat purchase. He is in my segment because he recently
had a mom who had fallen and broke her neck during the fall. Had she had a
sensor on, he could have found her sooner. She laid there for 24 hours before
his sister went over to her house when his mom didn’t respond to a phone call. Now
he has an aunt that has fallen and awoke disoriented and is still in that
state. She may have had a stroke, but he had to come in to work for a while.
Having a monitoring system with him at all times and allowing her to wear a
sensor bracelet would be ideal right now.
Jashira answered the question of whether she buys online or
in a store with, “It depends on what it is. If I can find it in a store I’ll
shop online, or if I discover something I want in a store, then I’ll buy it there.
If I seek something in particular and don’t know where to buy it, I’ll look it
up online." Jashira is in my segment because she has three young children and
one of them was sick with the flu this week. The sensor would have helped her monitor her little girl's fever while at home.
In Summary:
My subjects mostly like to look products up online if they don’t already know where to purchase
them. They seek them out if they need to. They will, however, buy locally
if they can find the product nearby since that saves them shipping fees and
they can have it immediately. On the other hand, they will buy a product if they see it for the first time in a store. If there is enough convincing evidence about it's reliability, overall quality, and guarantee it will work. If they see one in a store, they may think about it for a while depending on the price, research it, then return to buy.
My product, For
Kid’s Sake, is not known, so no one would know to seek it out. It would
have to have lots of promotion and sales efforts in order to get the word out
that it is not just helpful to have but essential in so many cases. It could
otherwise be in stores, like Target, with advertising to explain what it does
and show instances of it’s worth and uses. One point to make is that the sensor
could be passed from one person to another as needed, so the uses would be even
greater than I first thought. This week, I kid you not, there were three cases
of parents who had to leave work early or miss the entire day because their
child was sick with the flu. Brenda, Erica, and Jashira all had children with
nausea, chills, and high fevers this week with Erica taking her child to the
hospital last night. Erica was at work today while her husband was home with
her son, but if she had the sensor app, she would have piece of mind while his
temperature stayed down during the day today.
Final Thought:
I need to work on the name of the product since it hasn't been launched yet. For Kids Sake sounds like it is just for kids. It, however, covers so much more. It covers the elderly who are often in fragile states, covers normal persons who are really ill, and of course children and babies since they are helpless to some degree, etc. I was thinking (if they’re not already taken) of calling it something like Health Angel, Guardian Angel, Health Monitor, Safe and Sound, Piece of Mind, or Health Guardian. What do you think?
